Tabletop hobbies are more popular than ever before, and it's easy to see why - many of the games we champion at TGR have rich and rewarding communities behind them. Here at The Game Room we're especially lucky to have some fantastic individuals shaping the games we host and our in-store community, but one immutable fact about tabletop games has stubbornly remained the same.
They can feel quite overwhelming to get into - especially as a complete newcomer to the realms of dice rolls and, in some cases, tape measures.
That's why we've gone above and beyond to craft a new player experience that makes it all as easy as possible. Whether you want to learn Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer, Magic: The Gathering or Pokémon, we're your gateway - and here's how we make it easy.

THE TGR MENTOR SYSTEM
We've nominated some of our most prominent and friendly community members as Mentors. For wargames, these are typically experienced players happy to go out of their way to help newcomers get started with the game. For RPGs like DnD, Call of Cthulhu etc these are either our most experienced Game Masters or knowledgeable players.
All mentors are people who actively enjoy welcoming new players into their hobbies, and we all work together to offer a fantastic first experience.
IT'S FREE TO LEARN TO PLAY
Your learn to play session - be it for Warhammer, DnD, or any of the assorted card games we host - is completely free for you and your teacher. For Warhammer we'll set you up with a community mentor, for tabletop RPGs we'll give you free entry to a new player friendly session.
We even have mentors who are happy to loan out miniatures/armies to play with, and community decks for card games you can borrow for your time here! So if you've been curious about a new game for a while, you can give it a go at TGR for zero cost. We've even got free parking!
CURATED COMMUNITIES
The games we host come alive with their communities, and The Game Room takes pride on maintaining large, healthy, and moderated groups of players for all of our games. Our communities are currently hosted on Discord, with our Warhammer and DnD servers currently serving as one of the best ways to find a game in town.
These aren't just for setting up games - they're for hobby advice, meeting new people who share your interests, and potentially discovering new games to play.

WARHAMMER & GENERAL WARGAMING
Click here to join our TGR Warhammer server. We currently boast the largest Warhammer community in Chichester, with a 40K league almost 40 players strong! Don't be intimidated, though - you couldn't hope to meet a friendlier community. Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level.
We have a thriving 40K scene, alongside smaller groups of players who meet to play Age of Sigmar, Necromunda, and Blood Bowl to name a few.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS & OTHER TTRPGS
Dungeons & Dragons lives at The Game Room Chichester! We host regular play for all levels of experience, led by professional and community Dungeon Masters. Click here to join our DnD server.
We have a dedicated immersive room for all our RPG adventures - this plays host to games open to the community and a rotating selection of in-house campaigns. The space is also available for private bookings - so get in touch if you'd like to make your next game night special.
TRADING CARD GAMES
We currently host a number of card game nights for both bigger and more niche systems.
- Sorcery: Contested Realm meets every other Friday, with regular tournaments and sealed events.
- Lorcana meets most Thursdays for weekly play, and pre-releases when possible.
- Magic: The Gathering players meet on Friday nights for Friday Night Magic - we also host pre-releases and commander parties.
